Slowly We Turn, Step by Step

When first hitting the book road I had the usual big plan to have my book in many bookstores. I quickly learned that to stay enthusiastic about the challenging selling process that I'd my plan needed a strong supportive strategy.

While the plan is the big goal, the strategy is the small steps or sub-goals that give it direction. The strategy is the daily and weekly steps (thoughts and actions) that keep the plan on track, change the course and breath life when the plan is stalled or failing.

The steps must be consistent and executed in a timely manner to keep the momentum flowing. To help you stay consistent start with a weekly checklist. Who will you contact this week? Be realistic. Look at your calendar and chose how many people to contact. Say you've depleted your sources without good results. Do you want to revisit those sources, taking a different approach? If you called a bookstore with no positive results your new goal will be to walk in, introduce your self and book. Perhaps you've developed a following, let the bookstore know you can bring people for a book read. Are you ready to open up new territories? Contact those you know professionally and personally for marketing ideas (you don't' have to do what they suggest, just take note and read my other articles for different venues); listen in on a telemarketing writers phone lecture and put one goal on your list this week to forward your book. Always stay open to new and/or different ideas that you have not thought of before.

Developing and making workable strategic sub-goals helps you to know if your plan is working and what needs to forward it. I decided that, rather than making another list, I'd use a corkboard with various colored stickies - red for immediately, yellow for float it around - blue for a thought. With each sub-goal I included a date. Adding a target date to weekly sub-goals will progress or least, show you why your goal is not progressing. For example - send marketing kit to "Eye on the Bay" Thursday, 7 a.m. - Tuesday, 3 p.m. call three bookstores within a 50 miles radius for events coordinator's name.

Chose a weekly goal that is reachable. One does not reach a lofty goal of selling a million books by hitting the wall repeatedly. Create an attainable goal that says, look Mom, I did it!. It's okay to pat your back with a fulfilled easy goal such as following through with three calls to bookstores. For your commitment you get a blue star for effort or a gold one for selling books.

Weekly goals - even ONE with a target date reached - will keep you motivated and your book options moving along.

Book Review For "Wanting What You Get"

Kathy Love weaves a masterful tale of contemporary romance in "Wanting What You Get." Set in Millbrook, Maine, this is the second installment of the "Stepp Sisters" series. Ellie Stepp works as the town's librarian. Just when she thinks she'll never find love, she's in for a surprise. Love's writing is crisp. "Wanting What You Get" is a satisfying romantic escape to New England.

Ellie's sisters, Abby and Marty, left Millbrook to find adventure outside of Maine, but Ellie stayed behind finding a job as the town's librarian. At Abby's wedding, Ellie, as the maid of honor, is paired with Mason Sweet, Chase's longtime friend and best man. Mason is also the town's mayor and someone Ellie has secretly harbored a torch for since high school.

Mason is a hard edged character. His wife left him and he feels as if he's going through the motions in his life. He shares a dance with Ellie and comes to see her for the sweet, honest person she is.

Mason does his best to fight his attraction to Ellie. She's a kind girl and he's a downright scoundrel. On occasion, he also drinks too much. Ellie, however, doesn't want to fight the attraction between them. She wants to embrace it. Her steadfast nature gets through to Mason, but he falls asleep before he can make love to her. The next morning, a sober Mason apologizes and Ellie forgives him. They make love and begin a heated, yet secret affair.

Mason adores Ellie. He finds her honest and down-to-earth, unlike his wife who was materialistic. However, he believes it's better to keep the affair a secret so as to keep Ellie's reputation safe since he's such a scoundrel.

Ellie loves spending time with Mason. She accepts him as he is. Their lovemaking is torrid and untamed, awakening Ellie's passion. Soon, the couple grow emotionally close. Mason admits to Abby and Chase that he's seeing Ellie, but when his haughty parents show up, he gets drunk and breaks up with Ellie.

Ellie doesn't have time to be sorry for herself. She's pregnant with Mason's baby. When he finds out, he goes to Ellie and proposes. Ellie says no to him - he's a drunk and needs to get his act together. Mason starts going to AA. The ending is a rich reward for the reader.

Love's follow up to "Getting What You Want," is emotionally more complex which makes it that much more enjoyable. Her love scenes are vivid and full of emotional passion. Love's dialogue engages the reader. The names of her character have symbolic meaning. She does write in a "Lonesome Dove" perspective without any clear divisions or line breaks which can be disconcerting to some. Her plot and pacing are right on point, allowing the reader to slow down and take a breath before the action starts again. "Wanting What You Get," is a great book to curl up with for some late night reading.

EBook Marketing - Getting Powerful Testimonials

Every good pitch page out there for an ebook has at least half a dozen great testimonials for the product. Great testimonials sell books. There is no doubt about that. But if you have a new ebook, how do you go about getting great testimonials to use for it when your book first comes out? That is the question we will address in this article.

Let's begin way ahead of what should happen before you even write your ebook. What I always suggest is that authors sit down prior to writing their book and, with a pencil and paper, write down three absolutely glowing testimonials for their book themselves.

Now wait! I'm not recommending they actually use these testimonials for their book, just that they write them. They should make them exactly the kind of testimonials they would like to someday receive. These testimonials then act as content cues for their book. In other words, what content would they have to pour into their book in order for readers to give them testimonials such as these?

You see, by doing this, it almost tells you exactly what content your book must have. It tells you, in essence, what to put into your book to make it sell.

Okay, but maybe you've already written your ebook and you will be making it available in three weeks on the Internet. How can you generate some great testimonials fast for your book?

I have two suggests, both of which are killer techniques. Get on line and look to your competitors. The best thing to do is to look for other authors who have similar, but not directly competing ebooks. For example, if you've written an ebook on fly fishing, look for authors on line who have written books, not on fly fishing, but on some other form of the sport.

Then contact them and provide them with a copy of your ebook FOR FREE. Ask if they would be willing to give you a few sentences you could use as a testimonial. Explain that your book is debuting in a few weeks and you would like some comments from recognized experts in the filed of fishing.

And here is the big thing: Explain that you would like to include their comment on you web page AND that right under their comment, you will include their name and the URL for their web site. This is free promotion for them! Visitors to your site will see their name and URL and some will check it out. This method is used all of the time very successfully.

Another thing to do is to go to Google and under the "more" link at the top of the search page, scroll down to "blogs". A lot of affiliate promoters of ebooks use blogs to do product reviews and run ads for the ebooks they promote. There are tons and tons of bloggers out there and they may not only be willing to give you a testimonial for your book--they may be interested in becoming an affiliate for it!

So do a blog search, in this case for fly fishing, and see what comes up. Get with these people and again offer them a free copy of your book in exchange for a comment. Again, offer to list their name and blog under their comment on your site.

You need some good testimonials and these techniques will get them for you!

Getting My Ex Back - Secrets of How to Lure Your Partner Back Into Your Arms Again

Whatever issues you had with your ex that led to your recent break up, know that your relationship can be saved and you can lure your ex back into your arms again.
It all starts with the positive affirmation: "Yes, I am getting my ex back". Once you sincerely believe that you can and will get your ex back, the process of winning his or her heart back will be truly an amazing experience.

Even if your ex is with someone else now, you can win him or her back.

The first step is to give your ex some space. This is beneficial for both of you.

In order to win your ex back, you need to be confident in your own person. You must not be desparate or needy. No begging to be taken back. If you show any signs of emotional insecurity when you meet your ex, this will surely be a major turn off. In fact, if your ex is with someone else, you need to express that you are happy for him or her.

You need to work on being your ex's friend. All relationships thrive on the foundation of friendship. If you can't be friends with your partner, you can't be lovers. Maintain friendship with your ex. Show your ex that you have moved on.At the same time, show your ex how much you appreciate and value his or her friendship.

When your ex sees how confident you are in your readjustment to life without each other, while you are still maintaining friendship, this will leave the doors open for an opportunity to take things to the next step.

"I am getting my ex back" should be your mantra. You can make it happen. It's all part of the magic of making up.

Arnold Patent And His Wonderful Book

Most people read a book and if it's good, they might recommend it to someone else, but if the book is great, you can guarantee they will recommend it to everyone who is interested or who they think might be interested in the book. In the field of personal development, one book comes to mind, it's called, "You Can Have It All" by Arnold Patent.

I found the book in one of our antique thrift stores and paid less than $10 for it, I really didn't think much of it and never heard of Arnold Patent before. We've all heard of Anthony Robbins, Susie Orman, Wayne Dyer, but I never heard of Arnold Patent. I skimmed through the book and it looked like a short read. I read the book in about six hours and plan to reread the book, as soon as I get it back for my daughter. The book has short chapters, most of them less than five pages.

Looking at the short chapters, you could get the impression, that there isn't very much information in each chapter, how could there be with less than five pages and some chapters less than three pages. This was very deceiving to me, because each paragraph, was like a chapter and each chapter was like a small book.

The book is full of tools and advice and combines personal development with spirituality. He has chapters on meditation, energy, enjoying what you love to do for the rest of your life, cause and effect, abundance, attachment, pain and suffering, harmony, karma the past and forgiveness.

I can't tell you what a pleasure it was to read this book and if you're looking for some basics on quite a few motivational, spiritual and laws of attraction topics, this book has almost everything you need to get you interested in changing your life. You could actually read one chapter a day and think about it for the rest of the week, there's that much information in each chapter.

I was reading one of his recommendations and it was from Oprah Winfrey, she said, "It was one of the most important books that I had ever read." That's coming from one of the most successful people in the entertainment business. I stumbled across this book and might not have ever found it, but I'm telling you about it and highly recommend it.
